mood disorders (e.g. depression)
low self-esteem / low self-worth
Preferred therapeutic style:
Madeline acknowledges that attending therapy can be a nerve-wracking experience, therefore her first priority is to create a comfortable and welcoming environment in which her client feels safe to express their concerns. Madeline provides a counselling approach that is warm, non-judgemental, evidenced-based and tailored to suit the individual’s needs.
In the initial session Madeline is focused on building rapport with her client, listening and gathering information and working together to set achievable goals. After the initial session Madeline will then spend time developing a treatment plan to best achieve her client's goals. Madeline believes it's important to work collaboratively with her clients and values their input, ideas and feedback throughout the therapeutic process.
Madeline works predominantly within a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) framework, however she draws on other therapeutic frameworks to suit each client’s needs. Some of these frameworks include:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Compassion Focused Therapy
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
Madeline enjoys supporting her clients to develop self-care and self-compassion as well as to heal and to grow.
